Hello! My name is Scott Barrish, and I am the owner of Been There, Inc. which provides Personal Care Assistance Services to persons with disabilities and seniors here in Las Vegas, Nevada. My agency is licensed, bonded and insured, and it is a Medicaid provider.
I am especially qualified to address this need because I too have a severe disability - cerebral palsy. I cannot walk and have limited use of my arms, and I must use an electric wheelchair to get around. I also have a mild speech impairment. Yet, I have accomplished feats in my life that nobody thought possible just a few years ago. I have earned my Master’s degree from the University of South Florida in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling in December of 2004. Personal Care Assistance Services helps individuals with disabilities and seniors to live independently in their own homes and apartments. A Personal Care Assistance helps persons with bathing, laundry, dressing, cooking, cleaning, and other Activities of Daily Living (ADL’S). The average cost of a nursing home care is over $70,000 a year here in Las Vegas. The average cost of in-home care is around $25,000 a year. In-home care provides more dignity and freedom for persons with disabilities and seniors at about one-third the expense. Most persons with disabilities and seniors can do very well living at home or apartment with only a few hours a day of in-home care.
